Military Medal 'Near HOOGE on the night of 26th September 1917, Sergeant Giles was with a convoy of ration animals under the Command of Lieutenant Rush. The party was heavily shelled and broken up, Sergeant Giles showed courage and resource in assisting to reform the convoy and in recovering and packing rations from animals killed. he also organised a party and removed wounded men out of the fire zone.'
