Military Medal 'During the fighting near DERNANCOURT South West of Albert on April 5th 1918 took charge of a Lewis Gun when all the crew were casualties and used it with excellent effect against the advancing enemy. He continued to use the gun with only one assistant until the latter was killed and he himself was wounded. He set a fine example to the men of his platoon.'
