Embarked from Alexandria to join the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force, Gallipoli, 16 August 1915. Disembarked at Alexandria from Mudros, 7 January 1916. Admitted to No. 2 Stationary Hospital, Tel-el-Kebir, 25 April 1916; transferred to 3rd Auxiliary Hospital, Heliopolis; to England from Alexandria, 25 May 1916. Disembarked Plymouth, 7 June 1916.

Proceeded overseas to France, 19 November 1916. Admitted to 26th General Hospital (debility, slight), 27 November 1916. Transferred to England and admitted to Norfolk War Hospital, 28 November 1916. Discharged to Command Depot, Weymouth, 11 December 1916. Found guilty of being absent without leave, 11-14 January 1917: awarded 7 days' Confined to Barracks and forfeiture of 4 days' pay.

Commenced return to Australia, 13 February 1917. Discharged in Sydney (medical unfitness: debility and overage), 29 June 1917.
