Distinguished Conduct Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry during the attack on Peronne, 1 September, 1918. As a company runner this man did exceptionally fine work. For a short time communication was lost on both flanks. He went out alone through intense machine gun fire and established communication on the right flank, thus clearing up the situation.'
