'Gunner BAKER on 7th June, 1917, at PLOEGSTEERT, was in charge of a party of Battery Signallers with a Forward Observing Officer. Gunner BAKER showed great coolness and skill throughout, and although wounded by shell fire, remained on duty during the day working skillfully and at great personal risk in order to maintain communications. He brought his party in safely and has remained on duty since that day.'
