Found guilty, 31 October 1915, of neglecting to obey a general order in that on 30 October he did cut scrub along the 'Skyline' contrary to orders: awarded 3 days' Field Punishment No 2.

Found guilty, 6 June 1916, of being absent without leave from 12 pm, 5 June, till 12 pm, 6 June 1916: awarded 168 hours' Field Punishment No 2, and forfeited 1 days' pay under Royal Warrant.

Wounded in action, 24 August 1916 (gun shot wound, face, right eye, right hand); admitted to 3rd Casualty Clearing Station, 25 August 1916; transferred 13th Stationary Hospital, Boulogne, 27 August 1916; to England, 13 September 1916, and admitted to Middlewood Hospital; transferred to 3rd Auxiliary Hospital, Dartford, 6 November 1916; discharged on furlough, 6 November 1916, to report to Command Depot, Perham Downs, 21 November 1916.

Found guilty, 25 November 1916, of being absent without leave, 3.30 pm, 21 November, till 11.30 am, 22 November 1916 (two days): awarded 4 days' confined to camp, and forfeited 2 days' pay under Royal Warrant.

Found guilty, Larkhill, of being absent without leave from 8 pm, 5 March, to 11.10 am, 6 March 1917: awarded forfeiture of 2 days' pay; total forfeiture: 4 days' pay.

Proceeded overseas to France, 20 March 1917; rejoined 23rd Bn, in the field, 30 March 1917.

Wounded in action, 3 May 1917 (shrapnel wound, abdomen), and admitted to 3rd Casualty Clearing Station.

Died of wounds, 3 May 1917.
