War service: Egypt Embarked Melbourne 3 February 1915. Admitted to Base Isolation Hospital, Abbassia, 26 June 1915 (gonorrhoea). Commenced return to Australia from Suez on board HT 'Ballarat', 5 July 1915; disembarked Melbourne, 6 August 1915 (venereal). Medical report, Melbourne, 30 November 1915: 'Was bitten by a scorpion before leaving for Egypt. Was treated on the boat & while in Egypt was operated on ... The discharge has never cleared up ... chronic sinusitis.' Discharged, Melbourne, 13 January 1916. Re-enlisted, 20 December 1916, as 3306 Pte, 7th Light Horse Regiment. Admitted to Milsons Island Hospital, 25 January 1917 (venereal disease: gonorrhoea); discharged from hospital, free of venereal disease, 12 March 1917.
