Allotted to, and proceeded to 57th Bn from 6th Training Bn, Zeitoun, 23 February 1916; taken on strength of 57th Bn, Tel el Kebir, 23 February 1916.

Transferred to 58th Bn, 15 March 1916; taken on strength of 58th Bn, Tel el Kebir, 15 March 1916.

Embarked Alexandria to join the British Expeditionary Force, 17 June 1916; disembarked Marseilles, France, 23 June 1916.

Posted missing, 19 July 1916.

Court of Enquiry, held in the field, 1 September 1916, pronounced fate as 'Killed in Action, 19 July 1916'.

Note on B.103, 'buried in vicinity of Fleurbaix'.

Statement, Red Cross File No 1170805, 515 Corporal F.R. KEENAN, 8th Field Company Engineers (patient, Northants War Hospital, Duston, England), 18 November 1916: 'Informant states that on July 15th 1916 at Fleurbaix, the Germans raided a trench and blew the dug-outs with bombs. They took no prisoners and retired again. Pte. Glew was buried. All the "Geelong" Company were blown up or buried. Informant helped bury the remains of 2 of them. It was impossible to say who they were, but the whole Company was killed. It was a Saturday night the 15th July.'

Second statement, 3527 Pte N.O. GUPPY, 58th Bn, 23 February 1917: 'At Fleurbaix on the 19th July during the big attack Glew was killed. I did not see him killed but I saw his body and helped to bury him in the Special Australian Cemetery at the back of Fleurbaix. The grave was marked by a cross.'

Third statement, 3555 Pte E. HILL, 58th Bn (attched to 5th Pioneer Bn), 4 March 1917: 'He was hit by one of our own shells at Fromelles in our front line and died on the way down to the Dressing Station. He was buried in a cemetery at Fromelles and his grave is marked. I have seen it.'
