Military Medal 'During the attack near ZONNEBEKE on 26th September, 1917, he displayed splendid courage and gallantry in leading his men against a party of the enemy who were holding up the advance. During the consolidation of the captured position he displayed great coolness and skill in rallying his men and beating off a counter attack. During a very heavy bombardment he inspired great confidence in those around him by his coolness and disregard for danger.'
