Military Medal 'This Private showed special courage and coolness near BULLECOURT on the night of 7th May 1917. He was knocked over by a shell, which also wounded a comrade. He remained under heavy shell fire dressed the wounds and conducted the patients to a dressing station and reported back to his post. On the night of 10th May 1917, this private was buried twice during a bombardment, and though suffering from shock and bruises, showed conspicuous courage and devotion to duty by carrying on with his work for 24 hours, till relieved.'
