Military Medal 'For gallantry at METEREN on 23rd April, 1918. Lance Corporal FREITAG and Private GODWIN were members of a bombing section. In an attack on the first objective they rushed forward under heavy fire and bombed and captured a machine gun. At the second objective they bombed a house and took several prisoners in it. They did excellent work in beating off several attacks from hostile bombing parties and set a splendid example to the remainder of the section.'
