Military Medal 'During the operations east of YPRES on 20th September, Private GOLDIE, who is a member of the Intelligence Section made valuable reconnaissances of the old front line and the route for the Assembly position. He went forward with the Intelligence Officer to assist him in laying the tapes for the Assembly, regardless of the fact that he had had practically no sleep for three days, his work was particularly fine. He laid the tapes on the bearings and assisted by the Intelligence Officer and Sergeant went back to a point at which the Companies might go astray - 400 yards in rear - and successfully led them in spite of the bad weather and extremely dark night. During the operations he could not be persuaded to rest but was continually looking for identifications and observing.'
