Wounded in action, 27 April 1915 (gun shot wound, chest wall: serious); admitted to No 1 General Hospital, Heliopolis, 30 April 1915; transferred to No 1 Convalescent Hospital, Alexandria, 24 May 1915; to England, 8 June 1915, and admitted to 3rd London General Hospital, Wandsworth, 21 June 1915.

Placed on Supernumerary List of Officers, 13 December 1915.

Commenced return to Australia from Portland on board HT 'Suevic', 11 March 1916; appointment terminated (discharged) (medically unfit), 22 August 1916.
