Distinguished Conduct Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty in charge of a section during an attack. He led his men into the enemy trench and then began bombing up the trench, greatly assisting the assaulting company to push home their attack. He was badly wounded, but continued to bomb the enemy position and made about ten of them prisoners. He showed splendid coolness and determination.'
