Military Medal

'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. In the HANNEBEEK Valley (east of YPRES) on the 24th October, 1917, Sergeant GOODCLIFFE undertook the getting forward of Howitzers of his Battery from their forward positions to the roadway. This work was considerably harassed by adverse weather conditions and enemy shell fire. By his determination and coolness this N.C.O. successfully accomplished his task, thereby setting a splendid example and gaining the confidence of those under his charge.'
