War service: Western Front Embarked Sydney, 7 October 1916; disembarked Plymouth, England, 21 November 1916. Proceeded overseas to France, 28 February 1917; taken on strength, 2nd Bn, 22 March 1917. Wounded in action, France, 9 April 1917 (bullet wound, right thigh), admitted to 3rd Field Ambulance and transferred same day to 3rd Casualty Clearing Station; by Ambulance Train No 11, 10 April 1917, and admitted to 5th General Hospital, Rouen, 11 April 1917; transferred to England, 25 April 1917, and admitted to Military Hospital, Dulwich, 27 April 1917. Discharged on furlough, 22 June 1917, to report to No 3 Command Depot, Hurdcott, 6 July 1917. Proceeded overseas to France, 28 November 1917; rejoined unit, 4 December 1917. Wounded in action, 8 May 1918 (shrapnel wound, right thigh), and admitted to 3rd Australian Field Ambulance; discharged to unit, 8 May 1918, and rejoined unit same day. Wounded in action (3rd occasion), 23 August 1918 (shrapnel wound, left thigh), and admitted to 1st Australian Field Ambulance; transferred same day to 61st Casualty Clearing Station; to No 8 General Hospital, Rouen, 24 August 1918; to England, 4 September 1918, and admitted to Graylingwell Military Hospital, Chichester. transferred to 3rd Australian Auxiliary Hospital, Dartford, 11 September 1918; discharged on furlough, 21 September 1918, to report to Littlemoor Camp, Weymouth, 7 October 1918. Mached in to No 2 command Depot, Weymouth, 7 Octiober 1918. Marched in to Overseas Training Brigade, Longbridge Deverill, 27 November 1918.
