Military Medal 'For his admirable bravery and untiring energy during the operations near ZONNEBEKE from 26th/29th September, 1917. He was doing duty as linesman and his work during this period was magnificent, he repaired telephone lines under most intense artillery fire and as soon as our communications were broken, he immediately went out to repair them undeterred by the heaviest fire and without thought of his own safety. As a result of his unselfish courage and energy our communications were at no time down for longer than half an hour. This is a most deserving N.C.O. he merits recognition.'
