'During the period 16th September to 31st December 1918 this Non Commissioned Officer as Battalion Transport Sergeant has done conspicuously good work. When his Battalion was engaged in active operations he rendered splendid service in getting rations and supplies to the men often under most trying conditions. His devotion to duty and cheerfulness have always been an example to those under him and his good work and excellent care of the animals have been the means of maintaining the Transport of his Battalion in a high state of efficiency.'
