Meritorious Service Medal 'From 23rd September, 1917 to date. Has rendered most excellent and consistent service in the execution of hs duties as Chief Clerk of the Staff Captain's side. He has at all times been most painstaking and attentive to his duties. His keen and consistent devotion to duty have been of the greatest value.' Second description reads: 'As Chief Clerk on the Staff Captain's side has shown keenest devotion to duty, particularly in regard to ammunition returns and all office routine. He has rendered excellent service.'
