Military Medal 'For conspicuous bravery and devotion to duty. At BROODSEINDE on 9th October, 1917, this N.C.O. was a member of a detached post which was being heavily shelled and swept by machine gun fire. He volunteered to carry an important message to Battalion Headquarters, and succeeded in so doing in spite of the heavy fire. By this means important information came to hand hours earlier than it would otherwise have, and it proved of the highest value to the success of the operations.'
