'On the 29th September, 1918, near BONY, he went out three times during the day to succour wounded who were lying in exposed positions. He was wounded when returning from his third trip through the enemy fire. On the 1st September, 1918, near HAUT ALLAINES, he was also conspicuous for his gallantry and devotion in attending to and bringing in the wounded. He was with his Battalion for twelve months prior to being wounded and during that period under all circumstances, carried out his duties in a fearless and soldier like manner.'
