Sick to hospital, 12 July 1915; admitted to No 2 Stationary Hospital, Mudros, 14 July 1915; transferred to No 1 Australian Stationary Hospital, Mudros, 3 August 1915; to Convalescent Depot, Mudros, 25 August 1915 (debility); to 24th Casualty Clearing Station, 26 August 1915; to HS 'Scotian', 5 September 1915; embarked for England, 27 September 1915, and admitted to 3rd Western General Hospital, Cardiff, 5 October 1915; discharged on furlough, 6 November 1915. Disembarked Alexandria from Devonport on board HT 'Kingstonian' as part of 22nd Draft, 5 March 1916; rejoined unit, 11 March 1916.

Embarked Alexandria to join the British Expeditionary Force, 22 March 1916; disembarked Marseilles, 28 March 1916.
