Marched into 3rd Training Bn, Perham Downs, 2 November 1916.

Admitted to Brimstone Hospital, 19 November 1916 (mumps); transferred to 1st Australian Dermatological Hospital, Bulford, 20 November 1916 (venereal disease); transferred to Military Hospital, Parkhouse, 17 February 1917; total period of treatment for venereal disease: 143 days.

Marched into No 1 Command Depot, Perham Downs, 12 April 1917, and classified B.1.A. Transferred to 69th Bn, 24 April 1917.

Proceeded overseas to France, 14 October 1917; taken on strength, 9th Bn, in the field, Belgium, 20 October 1917.

Wounded in action, 27 March 1918 (shell wound, thigh and back), and admitted to 1st Australian Field Ambulance; transferred same day to 2nd Casualty Clearing Station, and thence to Ambulance Train No 26; admitted to 7th General Hospital, St Omer, 28 March 1918; transferred to 3rd General Hospital, Le Treport, 16 April 1918; to England, 8 May 1918, nd admitted to 15th Canadian General Hospital, 9 May 1918. Transferred to 1st Australian Auxiliary Hospital, Harefield, 20 May 1918; discharged on furlough, 20 May 1918.

Found guilty, 13 June 1918, of being absent without leave in London from 10.30 am, 5 June, to 9 am, 13 June 1918: awarded forfeiture of 8 days' pay; forfeited a total of 16 days' pay.

Marched into No 1 Command Depot, 14 June 1918.

Marched out to Overseas Training Brigade, 10 July 1918.

Found guilty, 9 August 1918, of after being duly warned for guard, absenting himself without leave from 3.30 pm, 8 August, til 8.30 am, 9 August 1918: awarded 3 days' confined to barracks, and forfeiture of 1 day's pay.

Proceeded overseas to France, 15 August 1918; rejoined Bn, 22 August 1918.

Marched out for return to Australia, 27 March 1919.

Commenced return to Australia from Liverpool on board HT 'Nestor', 20 May 1919; disembarked Sydney, 4 July 1919; discharged, 28 August 1919.
