Military Medal 'During the advance East of VILLERS BRETONNEUX, near AMIENS, on August 8th 1918, this man's platoon was held up by a machine gun post. With great disregard of all danger, Private GRAY instantly rushed forward, firing his Lewis Gun from the hip. He was almost immediately wounded by a bomb, but continued to advance, firing the whole time, till he eventually silenced the enemy gun, which enabled the platoon to advance.'
