Military Medal 'During the day following the attack of the 31st Battalion from WARFUSEE-ABANCOURT on the 8th August 1918 this man did wonderful work in stretcher bearing showing an absolute disregard for his personal safety. He not only carried in his own men, but also many of the 2nd Australian Division, which had passed through our lines. He was absolutely indefatigable and continued work until all the wounded had been cleared, setting a wonderful example of courage and endurance to his comrades.'
