Military Medal 'For courage and devotion to duty. This N.C.O. is a member of No. 4 Section of this Company attached to 15th Australian Infantry Brigade. On the 29th September 1918 he was in charge of an advanced Brigade post situated in an open trench 100 yards west of BELLICOURT. he repeatedly went out to effect repairs to cables from his post back to Brigade Headquarters, half a mile to the rear of HARGICOURT-BELLICOURT Road. This road was at the time subjected to very heavy enemy shell fire. He also patrolled the lines forward from his post to the Brigade Report centre which was situated on the Canal bank north of BELLICOURT village. It was due to his devotion to duty and courage under enemy artillery and machine gun fire that communication was successfully maintained between Brigade and Battalions.'
