Military Medal 'For consistent good work and devotion to duty from March, 1916, to December, 1918. As Transport Sergeant he rendered invaluable service during operations in YPRES Salient in September, October, and November, 1917, carting planks for road making and rails for Decauville Tramways, always over roads and tracks that were heavily shelled. on one occasion north of WESTHOEK RIDGE six wagons in his charge were caught in a heavy barrage and his skill and cool conduct resulted in getting them safely through and delivering the material that was urgently required. On several occasions at YPRES, LAMOTTE, WARFUSSE and NAUROY when hostile aircraft bombed the Horse lines this N.C.O. took personal charge and removed the animals that were exposed and helped to steady the nervous. his unremitting care and good horsemastership are mainly responsible for the good veterinary reports the unit has received.'
