War service: Egypt, Gallipoli. Embarked Brisbane, 8 April 1915; disembarked Egypt, 15 May 1915. Taken on strength of 15th Bn, 2 June 1915, and reverts to the rank of Private the same day. Posted as missing in action, 8 August 1915. Cable from United States Ambassador, Constantinople, 30 August 1915, reports as Prisoner of War in hospital, Constantinople (gunshot wound, left leg). On list provided by Ottoman Red Crescent, and forwarded from Geneva, 25 January 1917, notes transferred from Bilemedik, to Afion Karahissar. Transferred to Yozgad, Turkey, no date stated. Cable, 5 December 1918, reports 'Died whilst a Prisoner of War, Yozgad, Turkey, of Spanish Influenza, October 1918'. Now, 16 December 1918, reported to have died, 10 October 1918.
