Military Medal 'At PLOEGSTEERT on the night 6th/7th June, 1917, the Battery position was subjected to very heavy gas shell fire and ammunition had just arrived on the position and when all personnel had sought cover this N.C.O. rallied together a party of men and through the gas shell fire unloaded all the ammunition and got the ... away safely. This N.C.O. was badly gassed on this night. This N.C.O.'s work and courage of late have been a fine example to his men.'
