Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty during operations West of BELLENGLISE on the 18th September, 1918. During the advance Private GREENWOOD did excellent work with a Lewis gun. He worked right out in front of his Company ensuring the advance to the HINDENBURG LINE, and he finally succeeded in establishing himself right up near enemy wire where he kept the enemy down whilst the Company dug in. It was owing to his bravery and initiative that the Company was able to reach this position, and by his brilliant work he prevented counter attack from developing. His behaviour was an excellent example to his comrades.'
