Proceeded to France through Folkestone, 12 October 1917; marched into Royal Engineers Depot, Abbeville, 14 October 1917; moved into the field, 16 October 1917; taken on strength of 3rd Division Signals Company, 18 October 1917.

Admitted to 10th Australian Field Ambulance, 6 January 1918, and transferred to 2nd Australian Casualty Clearing Station (venereal disease); to Ambulance Train '20', 7 January 1918; admitted to 39th General Hospital, Havre, 10 January 1918; discharged to Base Depot, Etaples, 1 March 1918 (total period of treatment for venereal disease: 55 days); rejoined unit in the field, 15 March 1918.

Admitted to 47th Casualty Clearing Station, 22 May 1918; transferred to 26th General Hospital, 23 May 1918 (shrapnel wound, left heel); to 1st Convalescent Depot, Havre, 16 July 1918; discharged to Australian General Base Depot, 25 July 1918; moved out from depot, 30 July 1918; marched into Royal Engineers Signals Depot, Abbeville, 31 July 1918; rejoined unit in the field, 1 August 1918.

Proceeded on leave to England, 11 October 1918; rejoined unit from leave, 3 November 1918; moved out from the field, 12 March 1919. Embarked Havre and proceeded to England, 26 March 1919; disembarked Weymouth, 27 March 1919, and marched into No 3 Group, Codford.

Found guilty at Codford, 10 May 1919, of being absent without leave, 11.59 pm, 14 April, to 12.50, 7 May 1919: awarded 28 days' Field Punishment No 2; forfeited total of 51 days' pay.

Embarked Devonport on HT 'Rio Padro' and commenced return to Australia, 27 May 1919; disembarked Sydney, 24 July 1919. Discharged Sydney, 4 September 1919.
