Embarked Melbourne on HMAT 'Suevic', 21 June 1917; disembarked Liverpool, 28 August 1917, and marched into 10th Training Batttalion, Durrington; marched into 9th Training Bn, 30 March 1918. Proceeded to France through Folkestone, 13 May 1918; marched into New Zealand Base Depot, Etaples, 14 May 1918; moved into the field, 16 May 1918; taken on strength of 37th Bn, 23 May 1918.

Admitted to 9th Field Ambulance, 25 August 1918; transferred to 53rd Casualty Clearing Station, 26 August 1918; admitted to 5th General Hospital, Rouen, 26 August 1918 (gas shell wound). Proceeded to England on HS 'Marguerite' for further treatment, 4 September 1918; admitted to Military Hospital, Boscombe, 5 September 1918; transferred to 3rd Auxiliary Hospital, Dartford, 21 September 1918; discharged on furlough, 24 September 1918; marched into No 4 Command Depot, Hurdcott, 9 October 1918; marched into Overseas Training Brigade, 30 November 1918.

Commenced return to Australia on HT 'Ceramic', 25 January 1919; disembarked Melbourne, 23 March 1919. Discharged Melbourne, 15 April 1919.
