Taken on strength of 51st Bn, Tel-el-Kebir, 3 March 1916. Transferred to Australian Divisional Artillery, Tel-el-Kebir, and taken on strength of the 112th Battery of 24th Howitzer Brigade, 16 March 1916. Transferred to 4th Divisional Ammunition Column, Serapeum, and taken on strength of No 3 Section, 19 April 1916. Transferred to Artillery Training Depot, Tel-el-Kebir, 26 May 1916.

Embarked Alexandria on HMT 'Ionian' and proceeded to join the British Expeditionary Force, 7 June 1916; disembarked Marseilles, France, 15 June 1916; taken on strength of 10 Field Artillery Brigade, 30 June 1916.

Admitted to 2nd Stationary Hospital, Hazebrouck, 10 June 1917 (gun shot wound, jaw); to Ambulance Train, 15 June 1917; admitted to 1st Canadian General Hospital, Etaples, 16 June 1917; transferred to 20th General Hospital, Camiers, 16 June 1917. Embarked on HS 'Pieter de Conick' and proceeded to England for further treatment, 24 June 1917; admitted to 1st London General Hospital, Camberwell, 24 June 1917; transferred to Brook Street Red Cross Hospital, 11 August 1917; to 1st Auxiliary Hospital, Harefield, 20 October 1917; discharged on furlough, 1 November 1917, to march into No 3 Command Depot, 15 November 1917; moved out from No 4 Command Depot, Hurdcott, 14 January 1918; marched into No 2 Command Depot, Weymouth, 14 January 1918.

Commenced return to Australia on HT 'Osterley', 31 January 1918; disembarked Fremantle, 6 July 1918. Discharged Perth, 23 April 1918.
