Wounded in action, 25 April 1915; admitted to No 2 Australian General Hospital, Egypt; transferred to Convalescent Camp, Zeitoun, 7 May 1915; rejoined unit, Gallipoli, 10 July 1915.

Admitted to 16th Stationary Hospital, Mudros, 13 November 1915 (disordered action of the heart); transferred to 1st Auxiliary Hospital, Cairo, 10 December 1915.

Commenced return to Australia on board HT 'Ulysses', 3 January 1916.

Died of phthisis (pulmonary tuberculosis), 5th Australian General Hospital, Melbourne, 16 September 1916.
