Military Medal

'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. On 29th September near BELLICOURT under exceptionally heavy shell and Machine gun fire this N.C.O. laid a wire from Battalion H.Q. to the front line. He several times went out to repair breaks in the line and succeeded in maintaining communication during a critical period when information was of vital importance. By his courage and utter disregard of personal safety he set a magnificent example to the remainder of his section.'
