'A very gallant and resolute Officer who has crashed four enemy aircraft. On the 1st August, while obsrving for one of our batteries, he saw an enemy aeroplane that had brought down four of our balloons; he at once dived from 4,000 to 200 feet and engaged it; in the combat the enemy machine crashed.'
