Medals |
Military Medal 'For gallantry and devotion to duty throughout the operations 30th August - 5th September 1918. On ......... September volunteers were called to lay a telephone line, under direct observation by and within close range of the enemy. This N.C.O. volunteered and laid a line a distance of 1000 yards under heavy fire. Subsequently he kept this line under repair during heavy barrages and when all spare wire had been used he went out under heavy fire and salved a considerable quantity of telephone wire. His gallantry and unremitting toil during this period enabled most important communications to be maintained.'
