Military Medal

'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty during the period 16th/17th September, 1918, to 11th November, 1918. He has discharged the duties of his responsible position with energy and ability, and his behaviour under fire has been distinguished by gallantry and disregard of danger and great resource in overcoming difficulties. Once during very heavy enemy shell-fire, in spite of great danger, he procured a stretcher and with the aid of another gunner rescued a badly wounded man. In this and at all times he showed a fine example of courage and devotion to duty.'
