War service: Western Front Embarked Sydney, 17 November 1916; disembarked Devonport, England, 29 January 1917; marched in to 4th Training Bn, Codford, 30 January 1917. Proceeded overseas to France, 20 March 1917; taken on strength, 29th Bn, in the field, 15 April 1917. Admitted to 8th Australian Field Ambulance, 17 July 1917 (boil on face), and transferred same day to 5th Division Rest Station; rejoined Bn, 21 July 1917. Admitted to 5th Division Rest Station, 23 December 1917 (laryngitis), and transferred same day to 3rd Canadian General Hospital, Boulogne; to No 7 Convalescent Depot, Boulogne, 3 January 1918; to No 3 Rest Camp, 6 January 1918; to Base Depot, Havre, 11 January 1918; rejoined Bn, in the field, 23 January 1918.
