About 4am a call came for a message to all companies; 4 runners started and a shell fell in their midst, killing one, seriously wounding two, and slightly wounding Ball in the head. He started to walk back to the dressing station, and was not seen again, and no body was ever recovered or identified. (Details provided by father)
