Military Medal 'During the attack on MONTBREHAIN, north of ST. QUENTIN, on 5th October, 1918, at the beginning of the operations his platoon came under heavy machine gun fire and a number quickly became casualties. He, regardless of all personal danger, went into the open to attend to the wounded and although under heavy machine gun fire, he unaided succeeded in getting the wounded back to a position of safety. After performing valuable work during the mopping up operations, he volunteered to act as stretcher bearer and continued to carry out wounded of other units in addition to our own, until the Company was relieved.'
