Meritorious Service Medal 'During the period under review 25th February 1918 to 16th/17th September 1918 Sergeant HALLE has been employed as Brigade Gas N.C.O. and has proved tireless in his energy both in and out of the Line in maintaining anti-gas discipline. During the above period the Brigade has been almost entirely in the line which has entailed a great deal of strenuous and exacting work, in the organisation of Anti-gas defences. Sergeant HALLE personally supervised all construction of gas proof Dugouts, the distribution of Stombus Horns, Chloride of Lime and Lateral Alarms. In carrying out this work Sergeant HALLE showed utter disregard of personal safety and in every way stimulated Battalion N.C.O's in the performance of their Duty.'
