Proceeded overseas to France from 6th Training Bn, 4 February 1917; taken on strength, 23rd Bn, in the field, 31 March 1917. Admitted to 5th Australian Field Ambulance, 25 June 1917 (pyrexia, unknown origin), and transferred to 3rd Gas Clearing Station; to Ambulance Train No 29, 2 July 1917, and admitted to 2nd Stationary Hospital, Abbeville (disordered action of the heart); invalided to England, 10 July 1917, and admitted to Military Hospital, Richmond, 11 July 1917; transferred to 1st australian Auxiliary Hospital, Harefield, 10 August 1917; discharged on furlough, 27 August 1917, to report to No 2 Command Depot, Weymouth, 10 September 1917.
