'During the period midnight 16th/17th September, 1918, to cessation of hostilities on 11th November, 1918, Private HAMILTON has served continuously with this Battalion. He showed conspicuous devotion to duty on 18th September, 1918, when his company participated in the operations in front of JEANCOURT, it was his company's work to get dummy tanks forward and onto the tape line. This work had to be done under trying circumstances. Private HAMILTON displayed fine gallantry and set an excellent example to his comrades and it was mainly due to his efforts that the work was staisfactorily completed.'
