Admitted to 3rd Field Ambulance, 25 July 1915 (not yet diagnosed), and transferred to 15th Casualty Clearing Station; to No 1 Clearing Hospital, 26 July 1915; disembarked Malta from HS 'Somali', 31 July 1915, and admitted to St Andrew's Hospital; transferred to England, 6 September 1915, and admitted to Lewisham Military Hospital. Found guilty, 16 December 1915, of being absent without leave from 14 to 16 December: awarded 72 hours' detention, and forfeited 3 days' pay under Royal Warrant. Admitted to Rochester Row Hospital, 29 December 1915; discharged to duty, 15 January 1916; total period of treatment for venereal disease: 18 days.
