Military Medal 'At WESTHOEK RIDGE 20th September 1917. For conspicuous courage while in charge of a mopping up section - he led the assault on an enemy machine gun position, killing several Germans and capturing ten prisoners. He displayed great coolness and daring throughout the whole attack, and was a fine example to his men.'
