Admitted to 1st Australian General Hospital, Heliopolis, 2 November 1915 (rheumatism); transferred to Australian and New Zealand Convalescent Depot, Helouan, 27 November 1915; discharged to light duties at No 2 Oasis Camp, Cairo, 10 December 1915.

Embarked Suez on HT 'Ulysees' and commenced return to Australia, 3 January 1915. Discharged on account of being medically unfit for continued service, Brisbane, 29 February 1916 (rheumatism).
