'On the night of 6th/7th October, this Driver was in a column on MENIN ROAD bringing up ammunition. The column was heavily shelled for about three (3) hours, during which a shell killed another driver in his team, killed one mule and wounded two others. While the third driver cleared the road he cleared his wagon and unaided carried on and delivered his ammunition. Although considerably shocked himself, he showed a fine example of bravery and devotion to duty, deserving of recognition.'
