Admitted to 25th Casualty Clearing Station, 3 July 1915 (piles); transferred to 1st Australian Stationary Hospital, 7 July 1915 (haemorrhoids); transferred to Malta, and admitted to St George's Hospital, 16 July 1915. Found guilty, 3 September 1915, for creating a disturbance and being drunk, Sergeants' Mess: awarded 7 days' Field Punishment No 2. Embarked For Egypt, 8 September 1915; rejoined unit, Serapeum, 11 March 1916. Embarked Alexandria to join the British Expeditionary Force, 22 March 1916; disembarked Marseilles, France, 28 March 1916. Found guilty, 3 July 1916, of when on Active Service, drunkenness, 1 July 1916: awarded 7 days' Field Punishment No 2.
