'For conspicuous devotion to duty during the period 16th September to 11th November 1918. This Non Commissioned Officer set a fine example by his heartlessness and care of his men during the attack on the HINDENBURG LINE on 29th September. He has always been of great assistance to his Officers and comrades, and rendered most valuable and gallant service during the Offensive operations on the SOMME from 8th August, 1918.'
